McDonald’s is a global organisation that delivers millions of pounds of software, hardware, and infrastructure to ensure that its customers’ experiences are amazing.
- So, how do you monitor and control such a huge delivery pipeline across multiple sectors?
- It would be best if you had XD insights into what the business owners need to know to deliver
- You need a data strategy that understands the business needs
You need an exception data visualisation design which allows the user to immediately understand what is happening at any time and in any location globally
With the business groups so spread out across the globe a virtual whiteboard was used to:-
- Identify key user types
- Identify the user needs
- User stories were gathered that accurately described user needs in a way which was understandable and identifiable user or business need.
- As a user…
- I want to…
- So that I can…
A realistic set of data points were defined to meet these user needs and a gap analysis was created to identify existing and required data.
From these stories, components were collaboratively developed which could meet the user’s needs.
Wireframes were then created in order to arrange these components into a user interface. These were developed iteratively with stakeholders until an agreed product vision was realised.
