Flox AI – Design System
Flox are building intelligent technologies to make a real difference. Artificial Intelligence powered products apply technology from sectors like autonomous vehicles or space exploration to solve some of animal welfares greatest challenges.
The challenge
Working for a technology startup is exiting and challenging but the experience you gain is often life changing. I have worked with Flox for nearly 4 years now helping guide the UX and UI as there product evolves over time.
At the start we decided on View JS as a front end toolkit and this came with a limited Figma design system Vuetify. This was modified for the new brand and expanded considerably with custom components to meet the needs of the business and its customers.
Implementation
Vuetify was a good foundation but as Flox has produced new and diverse ways to enhance there product offering the design system has grown to accommodate this.
While much of the work is experimental the success of th eproduct has lead to the addition of charting, tables, graphs, realtime and archived video. 360 camera controls, alert systems and much more being added to support existing and future requirements.
The design system is used to build prototypes for user testing as well as delivering desig assets via Zeplin for the front end build.
Results
Flox is stil growing adding more clients every year with new rquirements or enhancements to existing functionaity.
The main design sytem allows the developement of experimental protypes for sales and marketing as well as user testing of new features.
I hope to continue working with the team at Flox as the continue to innovate and grow.
