Flex Legal – Design System
Flex legal are an award winning legal agency who are pioneering new and fair ways of learning and working within the legal world. The brief was to initiate a new brand look and feel across all aspects of the organisation from website, self serve platform, SASS applications, marketing collateral and physical branding. In order to do this consistently and to correctly integrate with a highly technical and advance delivery team we implemented a Figma Design System.
The challenge
Create a flexible design system for a new and quickly expanding organisation. The design system needed to work across every aspect of the business.

Implementation
Flex legal has a very strong engineering team and integrating with them successfully was essential. The front-end application was to be built in React so a version of MUI was chosen as a framework to develop on.
This had many advantages as it came with pre-built front-end components and an existing Figma design system. Unfortunately, this design system was at the time fairly basic and many hundreds of hours went into the development of this to meet the business and user needs.
Results
Three years on and Flex has a solid design system being implemented and maintained internally. Supporting the business as it has rolled out successful SASS products, Client and Employee portals as well as a comprehensive back-end system integrated with Salesforce.
The marketing and brand team has grown and embraced the design system across all outreach campaigns and customer support.
